Multi card readers

Multicard readers can read and write a selection of memory card formats. Some, such as the Lexar 12 in 1 MultiCard Reader, are compatibile with all the major formats - CompactFlash, SmartMedia, Memory Stick, MMC, SD and xD-Picture Card. Multicard readers are usually connected to your computer through a USB connection, so they're extremely fast - 480 mpbs if you have USB 2.0 - and power themselves through the USB connection. Since they can read and write you can transform any of your device-specific memory cards into a data storage unit.
