The epidermis is composed of four to five layers (depending on location) call stratum.
Where is the straum?
The stratum lucidum layer is normally found only on the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet.
How many various stratum are there?
Five
Also called the horny layer; outermost layer.
Stratum Corneum
Clear layer
Stratum Lucidum (Palms and Soles)
Granular layer of cells. It contains two types of granules; keratohyaline granules, and lamellated granules.
Stratum Granulosum
Composed of prickle cells that are interwoven for protection.

Deepest of the five layers and made of basal cells.
