QuestionAnswer
What is a Transect? When you put Quadrats on the Transect what does it Become? Why is it Useful?-This is literally just a Line. -Adding Quadrats will make it become a Belt Transect. -Transects can show how the Distribution of the Organism will Change throughout the Area.
How to do a Belt Transect?-Mark out a Line using a Tape Measure -Have a Quadrat at the Beginning of the Line, and Count and Record the Organism there -Then, use a Systemic Sampling Method where you put Quadrats every 2m - use an nth term -Or just do Quadrats that Touch each other Covering the Entire Transect - very Precise but think about how you would Feel -You also may want to record the Abiotic Factors as you Record the Organisms - just to give you a more Clear Conclusion
How to do, and Why would you do a Percentage Cover?-Percentage Covers is just seeing the Percentage Area of the Quadrat that is Covered by a Specific Organism. -Useful to do when its Difficult to Count the Individual Organisms in the Quadrat [Grass, or Plants] -A Kite Diagram may be Followed after
Describe how to make a Kite Diagram, and Say what it can Show-Kite Diagrams has the Y axis = % of Abundance of Organism [Look at the Percentage Cover] X axis = Distance along the Transect. Simple -What the Kite Diagram show is that at a Certain Distance, there will be a Certain Percentage of the Organism that covers the Quadrat
