○ Myel’ – marrow, ‘Oma’ – tumour ○ Malignancy of plasma cells ○ Plasma cells are mature, terminally differentiated B lymphocytes that produce immunoglobulins ○ Plasma cells accumulate in the bone marrow and secrete clonal immunoglobulins into the plasma, resulting in a paraprotein or ‘M protein’
