Communicating with pt's who have hearing impairment

-face the pt -speak at a normal volume rather than shouting -get pt attention when entering room before speaking -Ensure pt wearing hearing aids/glasses -Ensure pt can see lips (lip reading) -Stand near pt better hearing ear -reduce environmental noise(tv/radio) -Rephrase comments rather than repeat -speak at lower tone -use sign language or SL interpreter
