The deeper we go the more the non-specific symptoms increase which means the patient might have fever if he has a huge carbuncle because this is due to the inflammatory cytokines that are spread somehow into the blood after this deep infection whereas in the impetigo (crusting) I will definitely not have fever that is due to inflammatory cytokines because it is just the epidermis that is being damaged
