Question:

What are the 5 steps of DNA ligase (1-3)?

Author: fahr dat

Answer:

->Step 1: Human DNA cut into fragments by using restriction enzymes, thus creating many fragments but one of which will have the insulin gene (for this example) ->Step 2: Plasmids are cut with the same restriction enzyme as step 1, however using the same restriction enzymes means that plasmids and fragments have complimentary ends -> Plasmids also contain antibiotic resistance gene(s) ->Step 3: Mix DNA fragments, cut the plasmids and DNA ligase so they can produce recombinant DNA plasmids. Some recombinant plasmids will contain the insulin gene (for this example) and some will not
