They help in soil stability (aggregate formation), decomposition of organic matter, nutrient cycling, nutrient uptake by plants, disease suppression, induced systemic resistance, plant growth promotion, production of antibiotics and hormones, and the breakdown of toxins (pesticides, pollutants).
