Question:

Impact of noise pollution

Author: Freya Watson

Answer:

Noise pollution is a problem when large-scale surface mining takes place. The overburden is loosened by explosive charges and then removed by large machines. The noise can disturb the behaviour of many animal species near them. Deep mining usually produces less noise than surface mining. Mining licenses set limits on the levels of noise and working hours of a mine.
