How tidal power can be used to generate electricity

Tidal energy uses the natural rise and fall of water levels. As levels drop, water is held back by a tidal barrage (small dam that releases water back through a turbine) and then released through a turbine, generating electricity with a generator. The power generated depends on the tide level changes throughout the day.
