How are Abs and complements causing pemphigus?

• Mucocutaneous form of PV: antidesmoglein 1 & 3 • Mucosal form only: antidesmoglein 3 • Active disease: circulating IgG1 & IgG4 • Antibody binding may activate complement with the release of inflammatory mediators and recruitment of activated T cells • IL 2 is the main activator of T lymphocytes, and increased soluble receptors have been detected in patients with active pemphigus vulgaris
