What is dermatitis herpetiformis (DH)?

• Autoimmune blistering disorder associated with a gluten sensitive antibodies (GSE) • Characterized by grouped excoriations: erythematous, urticarial plaques; and papules with vesicles • The classic location for lesions is on the extensor surfaces of the elbows, knees, buttocks, and back • It is exquisitely pruritic, and the vesicles are often excoriated to erosions by the time of physical examination
