➢ Firm, non-tender nodules occur in about a quarter of RA patients, usually those with more severe disease ➢ They appear in the soft tissue under the skin on bony protrusions like the elbow. ➢ They sometimes appear in the visceral organs, especially the lungs and the heart. ➢ RA affects about 1% of the population. ➢ Women are more often affected than men. ➢ Onset often occurs between the second and fourth decade, but RA occurs in a wide age range. ➢ Genetic predisposition in About half the cases.
