➢ Autoimmune hemolytic anemia's can be divided into three types, depending upon whether they are due to: oWarm-reactive autoantibodies, which can only react with antigen at below 370C. oCold-reactive autoantibodies, which can only react with antigen at below 370C. oAntibodies provoked by allergic reactions to drugs Etiology Autoimmune hemolytic anemia is caused by abnormalities extrinsic to the RBC. It is caused by autoantibodies that react with RBCs at temperatures ≥ 37° C (warm antibody hemolytic anemia) or < 37° C (cold agglutinin disease)
