Question:

Smog

Author: Freya Watson

Answer:

Burning fossil fuels provide particles such as unburnt hydrocarbons that act as condensation nuclei for fog to form. VOC's from industrial processes also provide particulate matter that act as condensation nuclei for fog to form. Particulate matter associated with industrial and urban areas is more frequent during winter due to heating and the incomplete combustion of fuel forming particulate matter
