Temperature regulation by the skin

The brain regulates body temperature using receptors that detect blood temperature. Skin receptors send signals to the brain, which then triggers effectors in the skin to maintain a stable 37°C. Fatty tissue under the skin insulates the body and helps prevent heat loss.
