Methotrexate is effective in choriocarcinoma, acute leukemias, non-Hodgkin’s and primary central nervous system lymphomas, and a number of solid tumors,burkitt lymphoma including breast cancer, head and neck cancer, and bladder cancer. Methotrexate is used also in rheumatoid arthritis psoriasis and ectopic pregnancy. In addition, low-dose MTX is effective as a single agent against certain inflammatory diseases, such as severe psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis as well as Crohn disease. All patients receiving MTX require close monitoring for possible toxic effects.
