Question:

Name the types of aggression that exists.

Author: Ahmad Danial

Answer:

Instrumental aggression - the most common, is an action aimed at GAINING an object or privilege, such as cutting in line or a young child grabbing another's toy. Hurting the other child isn't the goal, but it may result. Physical and relational aggression - are actions intended to hurt others, such as pushing another child down on the playground (physical), or spreading a rumour about someone (relational). Boys are more likely to be physical aggressors, whereas girls more commonly use relational aggression (Ostove & Godleski, 2010). Aggression can be proactive - where students deliberately initiate aggressive acts, or reactive - where one behaves aggressively in response to frustration or a perceived aggressive act (Mayeux et al. 2011).
