Answer:

ERCP with sphincterotomy and stone extraction followed by laparoscopic cholecystectomy (85–90% successful). If ERCP fails: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy with cholangiograpyh and stone extraction ( can necessitate a laparotomy) A T-tube is placed so bile can drain externally. It is removed 2 to 3 weeks later on an outpatient basis.
